November 9

Another beautiful afternoon! Our playgroup had a scavenger hunt in the Rose Garden this afternoon, and the kids had so much fun running around and looking for everything on their list!

November 8

This morning while Riley was in school Jonah and I went to a friend's house to play in the leaves! It was unusually warm today which was so nice!

November 7

No good story with our pictures today - the boys were just running around being silly after Jonah's nap, cracking themselves up over nothing...

Until someone decided he was done!

November 6

We went to a sweet birthday party for the boys' friends Gwen & Cole this afternoon and Miss Erin was the entertainment! She read Gwen & Cole's favorite books (one of which Cole recited right along with her!). The second book she read was Knuffle Bunny, so the craft project was for the kids to color their own Knuffle bunny picture and to pin it to a washing machine picture so it would spin.

November 5

We went for a steam train ride this afternoon and as we were waiting for our train a freight train passed on the tracks overhead... I think when the train was passing by was the only time the boys were still as we waited for our train!

November 4

"I DON'T NEED A NAP!!"

November 3

Each child in Riley's class was asked to bring in an envelope on Monday addressed to themselves. They wrote a letter to someone during school and then dropped them in a mailbox. Today I checked the mail while Riley was in school and saw that his letter had made it to our house! I left it in the mailbox and then asked Riley to help me check the mail after lunch. He was so excited to see his letter!

November 2

One of the things that I love about Riley these days is that he gets so excited when he's going to see his friends and he talks about them for days before and after we see them. We see his friend Sophia at storytime every week - they sit next to each other for the stories and then sit next to each other when it's time to make their project. And this week we had just been at their house for dinner the night before, so it was extra special to see Sophia twice in 24 hours!

November 1

Yesterday Abe left for a business trip, and since our power still wasn't on the boys and I checked into a hotel! The only rooms that our hotel had were ones with a jacuzzi tub - the boys had a great time taking their bath last night! Thankfully the power came back on at our house sometime this afternoon - we were all so thankful to be back at home and be warm. Although the three days that our power was out seemed so long as we were going through it, I'm so grateful that we are able to live in our house, keep it heated and keep food on the table. All I could think about for the last three days was that there are so many people who would be cold all winter and not just when a big storm hit.

Changing gears...

This week is community helpers week at Riley's school. Monday they had a visit from a mailman, and today a police officer visited. They each got to take home this officer's trading card.

October 30

Power still out today, and by the looks of our neighborhood it was going to be  LONG time until we got it back.

This is in our backyard... that blue peeking out from under the tree (actually a tree and a half) is our swingset (which is still standing).

Using the snow blower in October is just not right!

The tree along our front walk... it wasn't doing so well before the storm hit, and now it's a goner.

My poor mums!

October 29

So today it snowed.... and snowed... and snowed! Apparently heavy, wet snow plus trees with leaves still on them is a disastrous combination. Our power went out about 1 pm and all we heard all afternoon was cracking noises and branches broke off of trees and trees ripped out of the ground.

This was the first limb that we lost...

And this was the first tree that we lost.

October 28

It's trick-or-treat night! We headed to Nanny & Poppop's house for dinner and to cruise through the neighborhood for some yummy treats. The boys both had a great time, Riley loved shouting "Trick or Treat!" as he walked up to each house (thankfully his "thank you" was just as loud), and Jonah walked around saying "Treat!" all evening.

October 27

Riley's school had a Halloween parade this morning! Nanny came along with us to see all of the kids in their costumes - everyone was so cute!

October 26

The kids were invited to wear their costumes at storytime today and we got there just in time for a picture with Miss Erin before the fun started!

October 25

Every day lately when it's been sunny and a little warm out in the afternoon I wonder if it's going to be out last warm day. This was one of those days so after naptime we hit the playground with Jess and her kids. Jonah may have seemed a little overwhelmed at first, but he warmed up soon!

October 23

Abe was out of town this weekend visiting his family, so the boys and I made plans to go to Dorney Park this afternoon with friends. We ended up running into even more friends there, and we had the best afternoon!

October 21

This morning we met some friends at McDonald's playland - always a good time!

October 20

Riley's class had a pumpkin show for their families today... every child decorated their pumpkin from Byler's and brought it back in to show off. They also had pumpkin songs to sing - so cute!

Riley got a little shy when it was actually time to sing...

October 19

Jonah played this morning while Riley worked on decorating his pumpkin... I thought it was interesting that he brought together a drum and a matchbox car wash to play with at the same time!

Riley got to decorate his pumpkin from his field trip yesterday any way he wanted... he wanted to paint it red and put stickers on it, so that's what we did!

October 18

Today was Riley's first field trip! We went to Byler's Farm... it was about 35 minutes from our house, but the drive was beautiful and the farm is amazing!

This is Riley's preschool class with his two teachers - Mrs. Kollar and Mrs. Shepherd.

Aside from the hayride and pumpkin patch, they also had a lot of other activities for the kids. Corn tables...

A HUGE slide...

Milking a cow and picking eggs out of a chicken coop!
