April 30

After Jonah's nap this afternoon we headed to Green Pond Nursery to pick out some mulch for our flower beds. The front of our house looks absolutely pathetic right now - it's in desperate need of a good weeding, plants & mulch. We have some flats of flowers that we'll be picking up on Wednesday and our mulch is coming that day also! I spent many hours Saturday & Sunday afternoons starting to attack the weeds, but there's still a lot more to go!

Abe is showing off our new mulch:

We also stopped at Tractor Supply, and the boys got to try out some of the big tractors:

I'm happy to say that Riley and I were among the millions (billions?) that watched the Royal Wedding bright and early this morning. I'm actually stunned that I got to watch it without 7 million requests for Chuggington (how we usually start our day). While I was impressed with what everyone was wearing and the pageantry of it all, Riley was impressed with the trees in the Abbey, the fancy cars and the horses that led the carriages after the ceremony.

Sadly after the wedding was over we ended up at the pediatrician - Riley's eye was VERY goopy when he woke up that morning and the NP that we saw confirmed my suspicion. Pink eye! After having to go through the eye drops myself just the week before, I was dreading giving them to a 3-year-old. But he did great (oddly enough, Riley loves taking medicine)!

Jonah is trying to run away from me:

Because of the pink eye, Riley spent a LOT of time washing his hands today!

April 28

Most of today ended up being not very much fun because Riley and I both woke up very congested. I really don't like when we have to cancel plans with friends, but we needed to keep our germs to ourselves!

So more about Jonah's climbing... he's scaled two more things today that I didn't think he could possibly do yet. I left him and Riley in the living room for a minute this afternoon and I came back to find Jonah IN the pirate ship table that Riley got for his birthday. And then tonight he put on quite a display climbing up onto the couch all by himself!

April 27

We got some good playtime in after breakfast this morning:

So Jonah has become quite the climber... surprising to be since he isn't even walking yet. I left the room for a minute and found him here. Guess he was too impatient for me to get him a book!

And then Riley had to join in the fun also...

A few weeks ago we had gone to Riley's friend Brooke's house to plant sunflower seeds. After a stop at Lowe's this morning for supplies, we were ready to transplant the seedlings!

The before:

We took advantage of another warm afternoon to get some work done in the yard. Jonah woke up from his nap before I was done working outside, so he enjoyed his milk on a patio chair:

Until he started doing this...

One thing that I think is really funny about Jonah is that he LOVES socks. I had taken my shoes & socks off in the kitchen after coming in from the yard, and he scooped them right up and took off:

Who needs toys when you have socks?

Today we met my friend Amy for breakfast, and then headed to Holy Family Manor to visit Grammy. Riley painted a special picture for her - he loves to share his artwork! After the visit we headed to Nanny & Poppop's house for some play and lunch. Love Easter leftovers!

Jonah was cruising around while we waited for Grammy to finish up at Mass:

And Riley was still carrying around his Easter basket from the day before, which he stocked with some of his cars to play with:

Good to see you, Grammy!

Nanny had a few extra Easter eggs for Riley to paint before lunch:

And Jonah got to play with Poppop:

That afternoon we took advantage of the warm weather and made burgers & hot dogs on the grill for dinner. After eating, we played in the yard a little bit before bedtime.

Someone is happy to be outside!

Riley has developed quite a good throwing arm:

He still has plenty of time to learn that you don't play soccer with your hands:

April 24

Happy Easter!

We had a very nice Easter Sunday - we stopped for bagels on our way to church and actually managed to make it to Sunday School early for probably the first and only time ever! Between Sunday School and church there was an egg hunt - held in the basement this year because of the wet grass, so it ended up not being much of a "hunt" at all, but the kids still loved it!

This is the best we could do for a family picture this year (you'll see later we had some not-so-great luck getting group shots today)

As a comparison, this was us at Easter last year... Jonah had just turned a month old, and Riley was two days shy of turning 2!

Riley became quite skilled today at opening his own candy...

The Easter Bunny came to our house while we were at church and left goodies for Jonah...

Riley...

And Abe!

Jonah's thinking that his Easter basket looks interesting, but wondering where his lunch is!

Riley loves his! (and that's a football... not a really large piece of chocolate).

"Really Mom, where's the food?"

We got to Nanny & Poppop's house tonight and there were MORE Easter baskets & presents!

This is our other failed group pic of the day...

We were just about ready to leave to come home, and it started POURING outside!
