May 24

What do you think these two are scheming? :)

May 23

Today we helped celebrate the birthday of one of Riley's good buddies, Nash. It was kind of funny to realize that other kids could also be three, just like he is! (Nash's mom, Christina, is our very talented photographer who has been taking our family photos.) Christina hosted a great birthday playdate for Nash at their house.

Jonah tooling around to check things out:

Everyone loves cupcakes...

Especially the birthday boy!

Good weather today, so many more outside projects! Abe mowed the grass and started moving his topsoil delivery over to the garden. Our house came with a hot tub that's just off of our patio, but we hadn't used it yet because it was pretty funky inside. I spent most of Jonah's nap today scrubbing it out so we can have it serviced and hopefully start using it soon! Here are a few before and afters:

May 20

I'm not going to lie, I really like food. But my heart skips a beat when I see the signs go up around Bethlehem about the St. Nicholas church Greek Food Festival! It happens twice a year, and the food is always delicous. I love trying new Greek foods (and desserts). This year I was a little nervous about what the boys were going to eat - Riley's a pretty picky eater. But the meatballs were a hit with both of them!

May 19

It happened again... no pictures!Twice in 5 months isn't bad, right? :)

Just a regular day for us... this morning we met up with our friend Meg and her kids Gwen & Cole for bagels and then headed to the gym. After naps we did a little more yardwork and went out for a quick dinner.

May 17

I love Riley's Parkettes class because they offer such a great mix of activities - class is never the same two weeks in a row. Today Coach Sylvia brought out the bubbles, which is always a hit!

Riley has the funniest expression in this picture only because he just popped a bubble right in front of his face!

Tonight I traveled to West Chester for a nursing school graduation. I first met my friend Krista at Ursinus about 15 years ago. A few years back she decided on a career change and started nursing school. I won't go into detail, but a few months ago her family life was turned completely upside down - Krista has had to show an extraordinary amount of strength at a moment's notice while continuing in school and caring for her daughter, Grace. I am SO proud of Krista and excited for her future!

Lots of yardwork going on here recently! We got a huge mulch delivery a few weeks ago, so now our flower beds are starting to look much nicer. Abe has also been working on his new garden; installing posts and a fence over the weekend. Can't wait to eat all the veggies he grows this summer! Here's the work in progress:

May 15

Typical Sunday for us... Sunday School and church in the morning, then naps and some work around the house. Today Abe mowed the lawn for a little bit when we got a patch of sunshine, and the boys and I played inside.

Jonah has a strict "No Snack Left Behind" policy...

I think every mailman should deliver mail on a bumper car, don't you?

May 14

Today while Jonah was napping Abe and Riley headed out to order a soil delivery for Abe's new garden, and to get fence posts for the garden.

Riley loves to pretend that he's asleep when you go to get him out of the car, but his smile usually is a dead giveaway!

Abe said that Riley was a big help counting out the posts at Home Depot!

May 13

This morning we headed to McDonald's to meet up with friends and get in some good playtime.

Into the lion...

And back out again!

Riley has been LOVING helping Abe spread mulch and rake weeds out this past week. They got back to work before dinner tonight.

Tonight I headed to quiz night - one of the parent's night out events sponsored by our playgroup. My friend Jess and I were on the same team with two other people, and our team smoked the rest of the competition! Our team earned this little beauty of a trophy, which will be passed on to the winners at the next Quiz Night.

May 12

I found out about a summer concert series in Bethlehem called Tunes at Twilight, so we headed over to grab some dinner at Mama Nina's and then to check out tonight's band. Jonah had a great time cruising around our chairs and smiling at our neighbors, and Riley danced his little feet off!

May 11

Every once in a while we'll bring out the big tunnel for the boys to play with... it's always a hit!

After Jonah's nap we headed back outside to enjoy some more sunshine!

A local running club offers a series of free 5K's in the Lehigh Parkway each summer. I haven't run a race since December 1st, but was excited to get back into it. My performance wasn't stellar, but I'm looking forward to (and training for) some steady increases in pace throughout the summer! Abe and the boys came along to watch - it was so fun to see them cheering along the way!

Halfway through the race:

Almost done!

May 10

Riley had another great class at Parkette's this morning... this very large baseball was very exciting to him!

We were blessed with very beautiful weather this week, so when Jonah was napping we took his pirate ship outside for the first time and filled it with water for him to play with.

After naps we headed to our friend Meg's house for dinner and a movie. Her kids' favorite movie these days is Finding Nemo, and Meg had fish-shaped PB&J sandwiches for the kids to eat and yummy tuna salad for the mommies - very theme appropriate!

Jonah had a great time sneaking under a few chairs to snatch magnets off of the fridge:

As usual I had to tear Riley away from the toys to eat dinner:

But Jonah never misses a beat when it comes to food!

May 9

Today Riley went to a mother's day out program at a local church, so Jonah and I had some quiet time at home.... so rare, and we both loved it! Jonah found Riley's Curious George in the hallway and thought he looked so delicious.

I won't go into detail, but this is what happens to a 3 year old who doesn't nap 5 minutes after a post-dinner meltdown (yup, he's out cold on the couch!):

May 8

Happy Mother's Day!!

My mother's day had a few twists & turns that I just wasn't expecting. We started off by going to breakfast and then to Sunday School and church. Jonah woke up that morning with a little goop in his eye - I didn't think much of it. By the time we left church, his eye was red and he was warm. By the time he woke up from his nap, his eye was gooped closed and swollen and he was still warm. Earlier in the day my plan was just to take him to the pediatrician on Monday, but when Abe and I saw him after his nap we decided not to wait and to take him to the ER to be seen that day. Survey says... pink eye! If you're keeping track, that's three episodes of pink eye in three weeks. Can we be done, please?? This is the only picture that I took today - one of my boys and Abe in our room at the hospital. Everyone is in pretty good spirits considering what's going on!

May 7

One of Riley's favorite movies these days is Cars. Cars 2 is coming out this summer (don't tell Riley, but it will be his first movie theater experience!), and the cars from the movie are on a promo tour right now. The came to America on Wheels in Allentown on Saturday, and we stood in a long & sunny line to see them!

The fine folks at State Farm (who sponsored the event) passed out sunglasses to all the kids in line - it was a welcome distraction!

What a cool car!

It's Lightening McQueen's buddy Mack!

The main event... the Cars! (Obviously Riley found the partition rope just as exciting as the cars!)
